Fernando Gaviria: «Second is a very good place, but I want to win»
Second for his return to competition on Saturday, Fernando Gaviria finished second again on Sunday, during the ultra-fast sprint in Katowice. Beaten in the opening by Pascal Ackermann, he was this time surprised by Luka Mezgec, flashed at 82km/h at the crossing of the line. A new opportunity presents itself to the Colombian sprinter this Monday, on the third stage of the Tour of Poland.

“Day two went well, I’m still in second place… It’s a great spot, but I want to win. I will have another chance tomorrow (today), reacted Gaviria at the finish of the second stage. This sprint is really crazy, it is always the same thing. You never know how it’s going to go, but he’s a very good runner. I’m happy for him. If I don’t win in Poland, I’ll at least know that I’m in good shape. I’m happy with my condition, my knee doesn’t hurt anymore so that’s great.”
