2019 World Championships: Australia is already unveiling itself around Michael Matthews and Rohan Dennis
More than a month and a half before the World Championships, Australia has announced the eight riders who will defend its colors in Yorkshire. Michael Matthews will be the leader of the group on the demanding course of the online race, scheduled for September 29, while Rohan Dennis will defend his time trial title four days earlier.
“These championships will be unique – nothing like what we have experienced in the past,” said Brad Mcgee, Australian Technical Director. There are many unknowns and I expect very open and dynamic races. Our athletes will have to be adaptable, strategically and technically ready, with great endurance. Matthews and Clarke have already proven that they can shine on such a field.” Matthews actually took the podium twice at such an event. The Sunweb representative was second in 2015 in Richmond and third in 2017 in Bergen.
